- Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kim Kardashian and Tyra Banks bare all
- Victoria's Secret Angel Adriana Lima shared post-boxing gym snap
- Experts say going make-up free has huge skincare benefits
Cheryl
Fernandez-Versini, who we are more accustomed to seeing with a full
face of contouring, looked notably natural as she enjoyed a break in
Italy on Tuesday.
The
X Factor judge celebrated her 32nd birthday in Lake Como with her
husband of almost a year, and was clearly relaxed as she went make-up
free.
But Cheryl isn't the first - and won't be the last - famous face to go sans slap.

Stars such
as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley love to post bare-faced selfies but the
supermodel looks just as good - if not better - with her slap
Indeed,
our favourite A-listers love nothing more than sharing a barefaced
selfie, with stars from Kylie Jenner to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
choosing to broadcast what they look like without their full face of
make-up.
However,
while some of them genuinely look like us post-workout or early in the
morning (thank you Fern Britton), the majority of those choosing to post
bare-faced snaps just seem to be, well, showing off.
Taken
with soft lighting and a kind filter, the bare-faced selfie generally
involves a wide-eyed expression - and usually makes clear somewhere that
the subject is make-up free, just in case you missed it.
Other stars, such as Kim Kardashian, seemingly never go totally make-up free thanks to their semi-permanent make-up
Victoria's
Secret Angel Adriana Lima posted this ruddy-faced, sweaty post-boxing
selfie - and showcased her perfectly flawless skin
Kylie
Jenner is also a huge fan of contouring but proved in a rare bare-faced
snap, right, that she can still look as good without a full face of
foundation
Holly
Willoughby caused something of a media storm when she posted a picture
of herself with no slap on last year – with many saying that the perfect
image she projected put unfair pressure on normal women.
However,
the negative reaction has done little to stem the tide of barefaced
selfies and it is hard to find a celebrity nowadays who hasn't posted
one to prove their good looks remain once cosmetics have been stripped
away.
These
celebrities have either won the genetic lottery or employed the softest
of lighting - but a few have actually had the courage to post pictures
where they look less than perfect.
Fern
Britton, Kerry Katona and Fearne Cotton have all bravely shared their
red blotches, dark circles and un-perfect pores with us, to prove that
you can still be beautiful - even with your flaws on display to the
world.
Demi Lovato
is experimental with her beauty regime and often champions colourful
hair and bold eyeshadows, left, but looks flawless without her bold
look, as proven in her post-workout snap, right
Ellie
Goulding is just as much of an English rose without her full face of
make-up on - and experts say we should all follow her lead
Gwyneth
Paltrow posted a refreshing snap of herself without her make-up on
recently - and proved her healthy lifestyle has had a positive effect on
her skin
Other stars, such as Kim Kardashian, seemingly never go totally make-up free thanks to their semi-permanent make-up.
In a recent selfie taken from her bed, Kim appeared to be wearing false eyelashes or semi-permanent mascara of some kind.
And
it seems that going bare-faced doesn't just boost your Instagram
followers; leading dermatologists insist that at least two days off
make-up are hugely beneficial for your skin.
The
5:2 diet, which involves limiting yourself to 500 calories a day for
two non-consecutive days per week and eating whatever you like for the
rest, was 2014's most popular way of slimming down fast.
And now, leading dermatologists are suggesting that the 5:2 approach can also be applied to our beauty regime.
According
to skincare experts, going completely make-up free for two (consecutive
or non-consecutive) days a week can result in younger, healthier
looking skin in under a month.
While some
stars genuinely look like us post-workout or early in the morning (thank
you Fern Britton), the majority of those choosing to post bare-faced
snaps just seem to be, well, showing off
Even
supermodel Tyra Banks is partial to the odd make-up free selfie;
according to skincare experts, following her lead can result in younger,
healthier looking skin in under a month
